What is a Sigil

A sigil is not decoration. It is not a symbol added for style. It is a form of meaning made visible.

Definition

Within Empyrria, a sigil is a symbolic codification of a system element: a doctrine, a state, a core of being, or a relation between entities.

It does not represent something loosely.
It defines it, stabilizes it, and allows it to be recognized.

Function

A sigil always does something. It may align, stabilize, warn, connect, or activate.

It is not passive imagery. It is a functional element within a larger system.

System Role

Sigils exist inside a structured architecture. Core defines identity. Doctrine defines direction. State defines alignment. Relation defines interaction. Command defines action.

Design Principle

A sigil must be readable at a glance. Its structure must feel intentional. Every line, axis, and form must belong to the same internal logic.

Meaning comes before detail. Clarity comes before decoration.

Presence

A strong sigil does not look created. It looks recognized.

It carries weight. It holds position. It feels like it belongs to a system larger than itself.

More entries will be added as the system expands.
